Solar Energy Could Be Markets’ Next Major Winner

If you’ve followed Macro Ops for a while, you know we love identifying Trifecta Lens trade setups, where three things align to create highly asymmetric bets:

  • Fundamentals: Is it cheap relative to where it could trade over the next 18-24 months?
  • Technicals: Does it have an actionable technical setup that allows us to get a large notional size with minimal actual risk?
  • Sentiment/Positioning: How hated is this idea, and how one-sided is the positioning?

Our best trades historically have all met the Trifecta Lens criteria. In fact, we’d be much more profitable if we only took Tier-1 Trifecta Lens setups.

We believe Solar Energy is the next Trifecta Lens Setup in markets. It meets all our criteria:

  • Fundamentals: Solar stocks are bombed out, trading at 5-10 year lows, with a much cleaner supply/demand outlook over the next 18-24 months.
  • Technicals: Solar has one of the highest Relative Strength scores and has outperformed the S&P 500 by 70% from its May 2025 bottom.
  • Sentiment: Nobody’s talking about solar energy right now, even though it’s one of the only bipartisan energy sources in a world where Energy At All Costs will require even more solar energy capacity. Value and growth investors hate it.

We’ve been pounding the table on the solar energy theme since last August and have since built a basket of solar stocks to express our bullishness.

This week, I’m sharing Part 1 of our Solar Energy Value Chain Deep Dive Research series.

Solar Energy Value Chain (Part 1): Polysilicon & Wacker Chemie (WCH)

We’re deconstructing the Solar Energy Value Chain piece by piece so Collective members can gain a deeper understanding of the market’s next potential outperformer.

Which reminds me.

We’re opening enrollment to the Collective for the rest of the month. The Collective is one of the few places on the internet where serious traders/investors meet, build lasting relationships, share investment ideas, and foster a truly rich life. It’s unlike anything else out there.

The Collective includes all of our research, a full library of reports and videos on theory and strategy, our proprietary market dashboard, plus our internal Slack where the team and I, plus fund managers and die-hards from around the world talk shop, exchange ideas, and shoot the shit. We will be raising our prices by over 25% within the next few months. So if you’ve been on the fence, now’s a good time to jump so you can lock in current pricing.

We’re off to a good start this year (+45% YTD), but we know we can do better.
