New MO Team Member, Mike G…

Operators,

Hope this finds you well and crushing it (or at least staying alive) in these choppy markets.

I wanted to take a quick minute to let you know about an important addition to our small team here at MO.

Mike Gyulai (aka, @MikeG in Slack) has officially come aboard.

A lot of you already know Mike’s work — he’s been a member of the Collective for years. And has produced some of our best MOHO presentations (links here, here, and here) diving deep into two particular trading interests of his: systematic classical charting and the mental game of trading.

For those who haven’t crossed paths with him yet, here’s a quick intro:

Mike’s traded markets for over a decade, currently manages capital at a prop firm, and still moonlights advising traders, hedge funds, and family offices on the behavioral leaks that can torpedo even the best strategies.

Before markets became his full-time obsession, he spent nearly 20 years driving growth and innovation at both agile start-ups and larger organizations in Los Angeles before relocating near Lake Tahoe with his family.

Brandon and I are absolutely stoked to have Mike on board for one big reason: he’s the ultimate accelerator for the mission that drives everything we do at Macro Ops.

That mission—unchanged since Day 1—is simple:

  • Build the best damn community of obsessed, like-minded traders and investors on earth
  • Relentlessly study markets and theory, then share every useful thing we learn
  • Create a self-reinforcing flywheel: we teach you, you teach us, and the whole thing compounds
  • Leverage the full power of the Collective to hunt down the best trades on the planet and make serious money
  • Deliver the highest signal-to-noise research anywhere, period
  • Build and share quant tools that actually give us an edge
  • Have an absolute blast while doing it

Mike doesn’t just “align” with those bullets — he lives them. Having him here full-time, grinding on research, trades, tools, and theory, will make the entire operation sharper, faster, and a heck of a lot more effective.

In short: the Collective just leveled up.

If you want to learn more about Mike G and his philosophy and particular lens with which he views markets, check the links out below (Peter Brandt was impressed, so that’s saying something):

  • Invest With Instinct: Episode 14 – Mike Gyulai : Jaymes Rosenthal, a seven-figure futures trader at a Chicago-based proprietary trading firm, and Mike take a raw look at how true self-awareness—not just technical skill—defines what it means to succeed and stay fulfilled in markets and in life.
  • Mythic Market Research: Trading Improvement with Mike Gyulai : Mythic Market Research, a proprietary trading and consulting firm specializing in algorithmic and systematic trading models, speaks with Mike about combining the technical and mental skills of trading to minimize variance and maximize returns.
  • There are no problems: When stuck, think like a Samurai. : Ex-finance professional Frederik Gieschen translates Mike’s approach to managing fear—critical for high-stakes decision-making in markets—into actionable mindset lessons for thriving under uncertainty in both investing and everyday life.

We couldn’t be more fired up.

As always, don’t hesitate to reach out and with any feedback or suggestions on how we can improve the service and community.

Stay frosty,

Alex Barrow
